Dear Troops ...

Tonight I drove past a "Christian" church with sign saying this:

"THANK THE TROOPS. WRITE A LETTER."

So I did.

You can read it all here and/or comment below.

These "christians" are going

These "christians" are going to get a rude shock one day . . . when it's too late. But that's a whole 'nother rabbit hole . . . . or is it part of the same warren?

I think ...

it's all be part of the same ... um ... complex.

Thou shalt not...

Well put, Winter! I would add that there are other commandments that deserve a bit more respect from these poor, ill-informed military types, as well, but it's a great start, and I admire the economy of keystrokes Wink

Thanks for the letter

Thanks for the letter, loved it. I needed the clarity, especially after that 'peace of insanity' prize thingy yesterday.

Did you send it yet? smiling

didn't send it yet

but I probably should

Well, I guess that was a bit

Well, I guess that was a bit of a rhetorical question but it would be kinda interesting to see if you got a reply. smiling

Speaking of the troops...

Here's what some of them are up to next week -- promoting some of that peace BO was honored for by sticking their finger in Iran's eye. I don't think it is going to work but then I totally missed that BO was about peace in the first place.

This doesn't sound good to me.

U.S. forces in Israel for missile drill
by Staff Writers
Tel Aviv, Israel (UPI) Oct 9, 2009
http://www.spacewar.com/reports/US_forces_in_Israel_for_missile_drill_99...

Snip:
"...U.S. forces are deploying in Israel for a strategically important ballistic missile defense exercise, considered one of the most complex ever conducted by the two allies."
"...Juniper Cobra 2009...will focus on how well U.S. and Israeli forces can integrate and operate together in any future confrontation with the Islamic Republic.
U.S. officials insist that the exercise, due to commence Monday and end next Friday, is routine. "This exercise is not related to or in response to any world events," the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv stressed."
"...The 2009 exercises were scheduled for spring. It seems that the schedule changed and regardless of the reason, the timing of these exercises will ratchet up already sky-high tensions between the West and Iran."
...Some 1,000 troops from the U.S. European Command, headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, and 15 warships from the U.S. 6th Fleet will participate in Juniper Cobra to work alongside Israelis in countering computer-simulated missile attacks from Iran and its Arab ally Syria, as well as from Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.

(My emphasis.)

it's not intended

to be provocative in any way, is it?

And yet, of course, certain anti-Semites might construe it as such ... ;-(

McJ's picture

Damn those certain anti-Semites

They just won't get with the program!

Pardon the Interruption

We are back up, sorry about that - had some serious database issues over the past 28 hours or so but I believe they are all worked out. If you posted anything during this time, it has very likely been lost. I apologize for the inconvenience and I don't expect it to happen again in the near future. But as with most things in life, there are no guarantees.

Thanks NJT

Thanks NJT for all your work behind the scenes to keep us up and running. It is appreciated!!

Yes, indeed

I'll second that, NJT smiling

you're welcome, my pleasure

i just wish i could blog half as well as WP and you to keep things moving around here, but I almost about gave up trying.

Anyway, here's something interesting I hadn't heard much about before. Filed under the 'treaties and rules are for the rest of the world' category, this story highlights the utter hypocrisy of the USA and Israel with regard to the illegal proliferation of chemical and nuclear weapons.
They're clamoring to bomb Iran for enriching uranium, after spending the better part of two decades sanctioning, then invading and decimating Iraqi over non-existent WMD. It makes your head spin how much chutzpah these psychos have.

This is the story of the 1992 crash in Holland of an Israeli airliner loaded with illegal toxic cargo - the ingredients for real WMDs.

Troops reply

Ironic that next to your letter to the troops is George Washington crossing the Deleware River on his way to battler the Hessians. No Americans were lost in the battle, though they did kill 22 of the enemy and wound another 98. The quote you use was credited at giving the troops a morale boost that winter.

Respectfully,
A guy that just returned from Afghanistan

The difference ...

The difference, of course, is that Washington's troops were fighting TO EVICT foreign occupiers, whereas American troops today ARE foreign occupiers.

I know this may come as a shock to some American troops, present and former. But I do not expect them to see this distinction, much less respect it, since their training is designed to obliterate such fine distinctions as the one between aggressors and defenders.

Talking to my father

It's been difficult for me to talk to my father about the American Revolution & that it may happen again, when he fought in WWII to save America from tyranny.

I read a new book, just out, about the 2nd American Revolution & it's a great read where a small town in America stands up to federal tyranny & does start the 2nd American Revolution. It could happen again.

1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence;
8. From dependence back into bondage

Just read the book & see what's going to happen in the nxt 3 yrs. if we don't stand up to tyranny once again.
