The Green Flag
If you are reading this, then you have seen the checkered flag. I appreciate the enormous effort WinterPatriot has put forth thus far creating the most excellent winterpatriot.blogspot.com and if he's really done(?!) then I hope this site will provide a space for old topics and new posts, plus new and old friends alike. The checkered flag may be waving on Winter Patriot's race but the green flag is waving here at www.winterpatriot.com
I hope WinterPatriot is just messing with us - if not we'll see if this old server can keep us going through the dark times!
Feel free to leave a comment or whatever, I'm just figuring this blog stuff out!

Getting Us In The Race
Thanks so much for doing this NJT. The checkered flag was really a shock, so I'm glad to see the green flag waving here at "In Honor of the Winter Patriot"- it eases the pain. I find this interesting because I have been musing for some time now that we are in a race for the finish line and the reality of losing will not be pretty. The big problem as I see it is, the large majority of the people in 'free and democratic' countries don't even know there is a race (well they may have heard rumours or 'conspiracy theories'). Of the small minority that do know, most are still trying to find the stadium. Those mingling in the race grounds are totally unprepared; some can't figure out which team they are on, groups of them are arguing and almost everyone is totally out of shape. Only of few of us have made our way onto the track. The other team however has had elite trainers, the best money can buy. They feel no compulsion to follow the rules and they have infiltrated our team so they can direct people to anywhere but the start line. They have been taking steroids and they are willing to do whatever it takes to win. They left long before the starting gun fired and are now nearing the finish line. Very depressing I know but thanks again for creating a space to get us in the race!!

Thanks for posting! Well I'm still figuring this stuff out;
a-ha there is now an option under the "Input format" menu below to choose 'Smileys' 
I've tried to set it so you can edit your own posts (fix the typos) and I tried to add a 'smiley module' but I guess that will take some configuration... let's see if it does anything?
Now I need to figure out how to import more smileys...

I sure hope some of the WP fans make their way over here. I'm surprised there were not more comments on the Checkered Flag post, maybe people are just finding out today.
I'm running a few small blogs myself. I have one I keep for my family and friends, another I started for a friend and one for my daughter's graduation committee. They are a lot of work, even when you are not posting all the time. So, I can really appreciate the enormous amount of work the Winter Patriot put into his blogs. It must be really hard to look out over the landscape, so to speak, and see things getting worse despite all your hard work. I know how I am feeling and I just read and post the occasional comment.
There are some really fine writers over on WP's blog so perhaps if posters will take some initiative you'll have some luck getting this up and running.
How do I use both the Smiley imput formula and the filtered HTML? I only get one option, so that if I choose Smileys, it shows my smileys but not my line breaks and paragraphs etc. If I choose Filtered HTML, I don't get the Smileys.
I'll post this post ways, so you see what I mean.

I had to stick < BR >'s in between all the line breaks to keep em from running together after i added the smiley module. I need to look into this a bit more. hey! did i fix it?

Ok - I should clarify
That last line I wrote didn't make sense.
When I 'reply' to a post there is no option to 'submit' just 'preview' and then you get the option to 'post comment'.

Not at all, I thought I had set that option but for some reason it's only offering preview... will have to look into this... also trying to figure out if i can relocate the 'breadcrumb text' that's getting superimposed on the image, but i could tinker with this for hours or days...

Well, all this techie stuff leaves this (barely) pre-baby-boomer supefied, but I love the idea that it takes more than guns to kill a man, said Joe I didn't die. I' too, was relieved to se WP's post when I went on-line here in Prague this morning, and I greatly appreciate this effort you're making, NJT! Winter certainly attracted a group of fine, sensitive and sentient human beings, and it's a nice feeling to be among friends. I'm dead certain my successors at the Bad Aibling Echelon outpost are paying attention, so to them I would say this: We have the truth on our side, and in the long run you don't have a chance. Your only chance as individuals is to admit to yourselves the sinfulness of your occupation and act accordingly. The revolution will not be bloodless, and mercenaries don't have a chance against true patriots when push comes to shove. To all you kind contributors I can only say, We shall overcome! Long live Winter Patriot!

Hey NJT - is there any way to keep the comments from becoming so squashed to the right? It's hard to read such a tiny column width - hmmm. I suppose it could narrow to only one word?

I think it's the nature of the way comment 'threads' are handled. I don't know if NJT can change it but you could either start a new comment thread and include a reference, or reply to the comment further up the thread. Does that make sense?

If so, it would be easy to show which comment we are replying to.
If you can't number the comments, we can still use the subject/time/commenter info i.e.

When I clicked on [Recent Comments in sidebar] your post - subject line "well they sort of are numbered" I wasn't carried directly to the comment as usual, because it's on the 2nd page!! Took me awhile to figure out how to get to the comment ... not noticing at first the link to 2nd page.

(the comment link taking us to the wrong page for comments past the first page of 30 or so) for the moment i increased the max. number of comments per page, which has resolved that issue temporarily - there *should* be a way to resolve that, more permanently, hmmm...
well i fiddled around and got the italics to show up (i noticed that was not working in your sig) and you can now shrink your sig with font tags like this:
Too bad it doesn't work retroactively, you'd have to go back and edit your old posts to shrink them...
And I enabled avatars - took me a few minutes, but it's working now

An idea re: research forums
Hey I just had an idea for a sort of pro & con forum,
where we could present the best evidence and arguments both for and against controlled demolition or inside job or any one of the many other debated issues surrounding 9/11 and other controversial issues,
this way honest people could clearly see the best that both sides of the debate has to offer, and make their own conclusions. Is there something like this out there already somewhere ?
Anyway, just another idea - i'm full of them, but getting them done could be another thing
