Come, Let Us Celebrate Our Monsters

Ninety years ago today, on November 11, 1918, World War I finally ended.

Of course it wasn't called that at the time; it was called The Great War.

How could anyone have known it would be the first of many?

The Great War

WP -- It wasn't merely "The Great War." Many at the time called it "the war to end all wars."

Shows you what a label is worth, huh?

"It may be thought that I am prejudiced. Perhaps I am. I would be ashamed of myself if I were not." Mark Twain

's true.

It was also called "the war to make the world safe for democracy."

Ninety years. Zero progress. Very sad.

Well said WP

I let out a few choice cuss words today when I heard on the radio that Cheney was laying a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier. The symbolism I saw was one of a deep sickness.

We the people let wars happen by not stopping them before they begin. The really bad thing is that we most likely will not stop the next one... or the next....
