This is exactly what I've been fearing and predicting all along. All they have to do is make the race seem close, say +/- 5%, enough so that the scale can be miraculously tipped at about 11:00 pm on election night. If American voters roll over yet again for this one, they will confirm my opinion that they are the dumbest in the universe. Hmmmph!!!
considering the PTB don't give a damn what 'the people' think, at this point are they really worried about making a McCain win sound more plausible?
You linked to this Reuter's story about McCain closing the lead. Obama lead drops to 5 points http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSTRE49J0LF20081026?feedType=RS... "...Things are trending back for McCain. His numbers are rising and Obama's are dropping on a daily basis. There seems to be a direct correlation between this and McCain talking about the economy, pollster John Zogby said.

So, the country hears from Joe the plumber and suddenly McCain is starting to connect with the middle class? The undecided are magically trending back to McCain because he's done such a good job of scaring them.
Is this evidence that whoever is orchestrating this is setting up their cover story; or is it possible there could be some 'priming of the pump' going on, getting everyone frothed up ahead of time so they make sure they have a good reason to send in the Consequence Management Response Force (aka the troops)?

Is this wishful thinking on McCain's part or did he let the cat out of the bag? Does he know something we don't?

What kind of bullshit are they feeding these once American soldiers that gets them to turn on their once fellow citizens? I got into a bit of a heated debate over on another forum full of so-called 'warriors', and not a single one accepted the notion that they had the duty to question, or refuse to obey illegal orders. Not a single one had heard of Watada and when they did learn of him, immediately the military slurs started, while they hypocritically suggested no one in the military should be criticized, at least not by ordinary citizens...
I take it the Constitution isn't one of the things they're teaching these warriors about, despite the fact they've all taken an oath to protect and uphold it. Are these people as dumb as they sound before they sign up, or is that something the military does to them?

Shay's Rebellion to Kent State with Homestead, Mattewan and dozens more thrown in, the military serves as the sharp edge of state power.
All this warm and fuzzy stuff about liberty is for the people who mind their manners and use their credit cards to shop their way to freedom.
The boat rockers are suspect, probably terrorists or socialists or civil rights crybabies or some form of godless unamerican scum which no longer deserves inclusion in the herd. So they are targets.
I am sure that the commandant of Dachau went home to the wife and kinder after a hard day of cleansing the race, kissed his wife, played with his children, and felt he had done a good day's work.
Yeah, I know that much Don...the question is what kind of bullshit are they actually feeding these guys and gals to get them to turn on us. I agree with Winter...they can't be all that smart to begin with. When I suggested to those other warriors that the military didn't really want intelligent, thinking 'grunts', they got all upset, suggesting that they had to 'think' all the time out there...that's not thinking, that's repeating what they've been trained to do. A monkey can be trained, not to mention much less intelligent animals. And when you point them to a real thinking example, like Watada, of course they don't call that thinking, they call that being a pussy or whatnot.
As another example of their stupidity, this was a fishing forum, and I'm sure most of them were familiar with the concept of 'invasive species' when it came to fish and aquatic plant life, but they just can't seem to understand that concept when applied to themselves. Many of them are also hunters, and if you know anything about that, you'll know hunters are all about 'culling the herd'. I wonder how easily that'll translate to our 'herd' for them.
These will solve so-o-o many problems for the military, not the least of which is the soldier with a conscience. They'll just need a small group of psychopaths to run them.

...Given that iRobot last year struck a deal with Taser International to mount stun weapons on its military robots, how long before we see packs of droids hunting down pesky demonstrators with paralysing weapons?
...Steve Wright of Leeds Metropolitan University is an expert on police and military technologies, and last year correctly predicted this pack-hunting mode of operation would happen. "The giveaway here is the phrase 'a non-cooperative human subject'," he told me:
"What we have here are the beginnings of something designed to enable robots to hunt down humans like a pack of dogs. Once the software is perfected we can reasonably anticipate that they will become autonomous and become armed.
We can also expect such systems to be equipped with human detection and tracking devices including sensors which detect human breath and the radio waves associated with a human heart beat. These are technologies already developed."
