Venezuela's Chavez: Palin a pitiful 'beauty queen'

CARACAS, VENEZUELA (AP) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin a "poor thing" who didn't know what she was saying when she called him a dictator.

Friday's verbal attack was the latest in long history of creative insults by Chavez _ but was not unprovoked.

In an interview with the U.S. Spanish-language network Univision aired Tuesday, Palin remarked that "through negotiations or sanctions, if necessary, we can pressure dictators like Hugo Chavez to make it clear that they cannot mess with the United States whenever they feel like it."

Speaking at an event to inaugurate a thermoelectric plant, Chavez said he had heard of Palin's remarks.

"The poor thing, you have to feel sorry for her," he said with a dismissive wave of his hand. Palin, he said, is "a beauty queen that they've put in the role of a figurine."

Chavez said one must do as Christ did: "Forgive her, for she knows not what she says."

Was I Chavez, I'd have set

Was I Chavez, I'd have set up a photo shoot featuring my own self and a couple of those leggy, Venezuelan clothes horses that keep winning beauty pageants globally. Stuff those gals into a couple of g-string bikinis and shoot pictures of 'em groping and climbing all over Chavez, and him standing, nonchalantly, dressed in his best suit. Take the hottest of those photos and release 'em to the media. Caption/headline: Sarah Palin doesn't like Hugo Chavez -- but real women do!

The Bradley Effect

This idea of the Bradley Effect seems to be coming up a lot in the MSM news I'm watching/reading.
From Raw Story:
Charles Barkley: Polls 'absolutely useless' because racists lie
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Charles_Barkley_Polls_useless_because_of_1...
The existence of a "Bradley effect," which was first postulated to explain the unexpected outcome of a California governor's race in 1982, has never been firmly proven. Experts have suggested that it may have lapsed, might not affect Obama in the same way as politicians who are more closely identified with black issues, or may amount to at most 5% of the vote.

"I think the polls are absolutely useless," Barkley continued. "Seriously, most people who are racist, they're not going to answer the question correctly, either on a phone call or on camera. So I 100% believe the polls are flat-out useless. I think this race is going to be neck-and-neck down to the wire."

Pakistan, Afghanistan, Agree To Talk To Taliban

Have you been following this

Have you been following this story...some economic 'shock and awe' coming for Pakistan.

IMF tells Pakistan to cut army
Bruce Loudon, South Asia correspondent | October 25, 2008
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,24547489-2703,00.html
(my emphasis)
THE International Monetary Fund yesterday ordered Pakistan to cut military spending by almost a third as fears grew that the nuclear-armed nation's economic crisis was now so bad that its role in the war against al-Qa'ida and the Taliban was imperilled.
The secret IMF demand, - one of several measures that the bankrupt country is being asked to agree to for a bailout of its tanking economy - was disclosed as President Asif Ali Zardari prepared to go cap in hand to Saudi Arabia for help.
Also yesterday, it was announced that US General David Petraeus would travel to Islamabad next week for talks.
Amid reports that General Petraeus was planning the same strategy for Pakistan and Afghanistan that he used in Iraq, it emerged that the boss of Islamabad's spy agency, the ISI, General Ahmed Shuja Pasha, was in Washington to mend fences over his organisation's double-dealing with the militants.
A senior military source in Islamabad told The Weekend Australian last night: "A cut to military spending of anything like that magnitude - even 10per cent, let alone the more than 30per cent that is being demanded - would rip the heart out of the army and its ability to operate effectively in a situation where it is in the front line of the battle against al-Qa'ida and the Taliban ... If we go, al-Qa'ida wins. Is that what the IMF wants to see?"
The country is now rated as among the worst credit risks in the world, ahead of only the Indian Ocean Seychelles islands in the Standard & Poor's index.
The military pay cut is just a part of IMF demands.
What was being sought in exchange for a bailout was effectively what had been termed "economic martial law".
...Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan said the country was facing an economic crisis of a magnitude never seen before. "Unless we change, we are heading towards a disaster. The only way we can change is if we have an independent judiciary checking the abuse of power," he said.

Now, wasn't the head of Pakistani intelligence in Washington, BC for a 'rare' visit the week of 911 and weren't there other interesting meetings going on with the Pakistani's just before 911. I don't follow 911 as closely as most posting here but just couldn't help noting this.

McCain closing the gap?

It's bizarro world out there.
An Update to GG's post today about Fox News political strategist Dick Morris's message to viewers that Obama may still squeak out a victory:
http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/10/29/morris/index.html
Update: I'll leave it to polling experts to decide whether it's statistically justifiable to declare that the proverbial "tightening" is now happening, but what is clear is that several polls now show Obama with his smallest national lead in quite some time, including this morning's Rasmussen poll (50-47: "the first time McCain has been within three points of Obama in more than a month and the first time his support has topped 46% since September 24")

bizarro indeed

Thanks for this. I'll try to dig into it when I get some time. In the meantime, if you find out more, please post more.

Internal Polling Numbers For McCain ??

Found this while I was cruising the net tonight.
Unbelievably they are projecting a landslide for McCain and if you listen to the audio they talk about riots on election nights. It sounds major crazy. The host flat out calls Obama a communist and compares the news coverage of Obama (and his polling numbers) to the works of Goebels.
Audio Link: http://davidjeffers.thevanguard.org/wp-content/uploads/qr103108-the-real...

GOP Internal Polls (NJ, CA, MI, PA) Show Possible Landslide for McCain
http://patriotroom.com/?p=3672
David Jeffers runs a blog called the Salt and Light. He is linking to something called the Quinn & Rose Show. The host is talking to a guy who seems to be connected to some of the GOP bigwigs, who give him internal polling numbers. The audio link is here. If this is accurate, and I cannot vouch for it, but it sounds like it might be, we could be in for a really great night of schadenfreude on Tuesday, watching the Chernobyl meltdown on MSNBC.

The audio is painfully slow to load, so I will give you what I got from it.
The guy says that Obama took Blue states for granted at his peril.
New Jersey: McCain leads 48-43 with 7% undecided.
Undecideds are breaking 4:1 for McCain

I couldn’t get the rest to load, but Not Your Sweetie has heard it and reports the following.

Apparently, McCain is 2 points ahead in New Jersey - and sweet karma - ahead in Michigan! Yes, the “half vote” Michigan. yes, that “4 Hillary delegates go to the guy who wasn’t on the ballot Michigan. And also, the state McCain stopped campaigning in!
Only 2 points behind in California - with 9% undecided and Barr 3%
In Pennsylvania there’s a McCain blowout 55 McCain, 33 Obama - with 37% Dems voting McCain (those PUMAs we were talking about from another source) and 14 % undecided - these being DEMOCRATS

Main issue with voters: Obama cheating and trying to buy this election
I guess the ACORN stories and that infomercial sealed the deal.
The greatest news? ACORN not mobilized in blue states!

Would anybody buy this? Absolutely. Is it such a shock to think that the American people could see through such a inexperienced America-hating fraud? Absolutely not.

It ain’t over and you take this stuff with a grain of salt. But it looks promising.

Redpill8 article

"As Gandhi and others have demonstrated, the truth, combined with love and compassion, will set us free. As we work together to pursue the truth and expand our awareness, we are lifting the veil and awakening from a media-induced trance so that we can more clearly see how we have allowed our power to be taken from us. This knowledge will empower us to reform the outmoded structures that are so oppressive and to create new systems that truly serve the needs of the people and the planet for current and future generations."

The concluding paragraph from a must read article from Redpill8. It's lengthy but covers a lot of ground and covers it extremely well -
http://redpill8.blogspot.com/2008/10/evolution-of-apocalypse-financial.html

that was Carol Brouillet

Hi, James.

The piece you linked to at redpill8's blog was written by Carol Brouillet.

She's the Green congressional candidate from California we were talking about just the other day.

Here's a link to the original: Evolution of the Apocalypse- Empire's Demise- Human Renaissance

Apparently Michel Chossudovsky posted the piece as well, at Global Research dot ca, and neglected to mention that she was running for congress, and spelled her name wrong too. That's too bad; more people read his site in a day than read me in a year. And it's not like Michel; he's usually really good about details.

Not sure why redpill8 didn't post a link; that's not like him either. But anyway ...

VOTE FOR CAROL BROUILLET if you can, please!

Carol Brouillet.

Thanks for the correction, WP. I seem to be making a habit of this! Dunno how I missed it 'cept maybe it was very early in the morning here. Anyway, clearly she is one out of the box.
